In 2013/2014, spring biannual sales of the special printing press increased by 15% year-on-year, which allowed for continued advance. And all this, the result of a "revolutionary" bending process and the company's state-of-the-art production technology.
"Digital technology makes the bent profiles so much easier to produce," says Thomas Hoffmann, Brand Manager for the special printing press. "We are using an automatic bender for the first time in our history, with a coolant temperature of just 25 degrees Celsius. It also guarantees that the product is in a perfect state."
The combination of individual axes with 3-dimensional capability are now standard in the production technology. The spool and cutting technology are also fully automated, and this is already creating significant efficiency gains.
Further improvements in the folding unit are also taking place and are already fully integrated in the new production unit. What is important, though, is that the fold is fully 3-dimensional. "Previously, the folding processes took place at a flat position," Hoffmann says. "Now, for the first time, the material is bent as it is run through the machine."
Outlook for 2015.
The production process is going through several further changes in 2015. The new roll feeder will lead to a significant increase in flexibility and will make it possible to easily change to different production sizes.
The use of high-strength carbon steels in the new machine can increase the maximum length of the material being handled by 2.5 meters and provide a reliable solution for a new version of the folding technology.
This will also make it possible to produce one-piece products, which will increase the flexibility of the production even further.
The line will be reconfigured, and it will be possible to produce 200,000 separate items in one hour.
